Autauga County Commission approves routine personnel actions, transfers and mutual-aid agreement

At its Aug. 6, 2024 meeting the Autauga County Commission approved a range of personnel and administrative items, including hires, transfers, promotions, resignations and a retirement, and approved interfund transfers for gasoline and sheriff fuel accounts.
Commissioners recorded routine personnel actions: hiring John Daniels as a Deputy Sheriff (pending background check and drug screen) to replace a terminated deputy; approving the transfer of Dustyn Watts from Animal Control to Sheriff Investigations; transferring David Williams from deputy to Animal Control; promoting Shaun Pearsall from Corporal to Sergeant; accepting several resignations (Brooklyn Wolfe, Triston Clark, Shelby Le'Grand, Tiquishia Brenson, Cody Kelley) and the retirement of Brenda Tyus (effective Aug. 1, 2024). The commission also approved hires to replace departing staff, including part-time drivers Timmie Miller and Tommy Geohagan, pending background checks.
As part of consent business the commission approved detailed transfers to the gasoline budget to cover July fuel usage. The minutes list department-specific charges totaling $8,226.23 due from the General Fund and $428.66 due from the Reappraisal Fund. The commission separately approved sheriff-related fuel transfers and other line-item transfers as recorded.
The commission approved a one-year, one-step pay increase for David Williams (Deputy Sheriff/Animal Control, DOH Aug. 14, 2023). The panel also approved a Mutual Aid Agreement permitting Autauga County to house inmates in Shelby County. Two previously approved Operator II hires (Jeffrey Thigpen and Michael Varden) were formally rescinded by the commission.
Several motions that would have provided direct reimbursements or opened purchase orders for attorney fees died for lack of a second and were not adopted. The meeting adjourned at 5:14 p.m., with the commission scheduled to reconvene on Aug. 13, 2024 at 5:00 p.m.
