Charles Mix County approves plats, liquor-license renewals, personnel moves and a Pickstown policing contract

The Charles Mix County Board of Commissioners on May 23, 2024 approved routine county business including three plats, nine alcoholic-beverage license renewals, multiple personnel actions, and a law-enforcement services contract with the Town of Pickstown.
Plats approved included Lot 27, Sunset Acres Subdivision (SE 1/4 Sec. 32, T96N, R63W, Bryan Township); Elliott Cwach 2nd Addition (NE 1/4 of SE 1/4 Sec. 11, T96N, R67W, Jackson Township); and Lot 1, Visscher First Subdivision (SE 1/4 Sec. 5, T99N, R67W, Darlington Township). Motions approving the plats were recorded as unanimous.
Auditor Jason Gant presented nine alcoholic-beverage license renewals effective July 1, 2024; the board approved renewals for Choteau Creek Brewing Company (Wagner), Dock 44 Marina (Platte), Dollar General #16067 (Platte), Ft. Randall Casino (Lake Andes), Travel Plaza (Pickstown), Hidden Gem & Pad 71 (Wagner), Platte Creek Store (Platte), SD Pheasant Acres (Armour) and God's Country Campground (Platte). The board approved the renewals by motion of Soukup, seconded by Stotz.
Personnel actions approved include hiring Callie Westendorf as a part-time appraiser assistant (effective 5/28/24, $18.84/hour), hiring Lee Porter as a part-time jailer (effective 5/16/24, $20.61/hour), accepting the termination of jailer Galen Patterson Jr. (effective 5/16/24), and hiring Gracie Dummer as a jailer (effective 6/12/24, $20.61/hour). The board approved a law-enforcement contract with the Town of Pickstown for up to $3,500 (motion by Soukup, second by Stotz).
The commission also approved payment of bills recorded in the minutes. The vendor list and payroll totals are published in the meeting record; the minutes list a grand total of $175,650.53 across county funds, including $110,945.04 for the General Fund and $51,330.62 for County Road & Bridge.
The board adjourned at 12:01 p.m.; its next regular meetings are scheduled for June 6 and June 27, 2024, at the courthouse.
