Durham commissioner warns proposed federal Medicaid changes could risk coverage for thousands

Commissioner Wendy Jacobs told the Durham County Board of County Commissioners on April 28 that staff from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services warned about several proposed federal Medicaid changes that could reduce federal funding and prompt coverage losses. Jacobs said those changes, if enacted, could put “the 650,000 North Carolinians and more than 22,000 Durham residents who just received health care in the past year due to Medicaid Expansion” at risk.
