BASSETT, Neb. — The Rock County Board of Commissioners voted July 1 to table action on installing railings for the county courthouse steps and ramp until the county obtains three informal quotes, records show.
Chairman Wade D. Hollenbeck called the special meeting to order at 9 a.m. and noted the Open Meeting Law was posted in the commissioners' room. "The Open Meeting Law is posted on the East wall of the Commissioners room," Hollenbeck said at the start of the session.
Commissioner Colby Sybrant moved to approve the meeting agenda as posted in the clerk’s office; Commissioner Faye Smith seconded. A roll call vote recorded Sybrant, Hollenbeck and Smith voting "Yes," and the motion to adopt the agenda carried unanimously.
Robert Stout of Stout Welding met with the commissioners to discuss providing railings for the courthouse steps and the access ramp. After hearing the presentation, the board decided not to authorize work immediately and instead tabled the matter until staff can obtain three informal price quotes for the project.
The minutes record the decision to table without listing a formal mover or seconder for that specific action; the record states only that the "matter [was] tabled until we can obtain 3 informal quotes."
