The Soddy‑Daisy Board of Commissioners on May 19 gave unanimous approval to an Eagle Scout project to construct a 15'6" x 15'6" burn pit at Veterans Park to be used for retiring flags. Vice‑Mayor Cothran presented the proposal from Seth Green and said the Boy Scouts and the JROTC programs from Soddy‑Daisy and Sale Creek High Schools would share cost and maintenance.
