Simpson County approves road paving lists, priority projects and applies for 80/20 bridge funds

Simpson County Fiscal Court on June 17 approved several transportation actions: the FY25-26 Flex Roads Paving list, the County Priority Projects Program roads list, and an application for 80/20 bridge funding for Hack Brown Road.
The approved Flex Roads list submitted for state approval includes Perdue Farms, Carpenter, Wilson Way, Fitzgerald Court, Barnes School, Tyree Chapel Spur, Tyree Chapel and Harris Lane. The County Priority Projects list submitted for state approval includes Tyree Chapel, Geddes to Spur, Howard Brewer, Ben Ruley and Barnes School (Williams to Henson Road). Public Works Supervisor Bobby Groves told the court that not all requested roads are guaranteed state approval.
The court also authorized applying for 80/20 bridge funding for Hack Brown Road and authorized the County Judge to sign the application. Mr. Groves said the project would replace a large, galvanized culvert showing erosion with a concrete box. The minutes note that the county’s new budget had funds directed to Kummer Road but that applying for the bridge program could secure additional federal funds for the project.
All motions on roads and the bridge application were approved by recorded vote.
