Motion to terminate Schaus Professional Services contract fails amid split vote
A motion to terminate the county's contract with Schaus Professional Services failed on a 6–12 vote; earlier in the meeting the commission approved two Schaus invoices, one of them drawing several 'no' votes.

During commission comments on Jan. 20, Commissioner Danny Deal moved, with Angie Odom seconding, to terminate the contract with Schaus Professional Services after the required 30‑day notice and to seek a new contract for the Highway Department. The motion failed on a recorded vote of 6 yes and 12 no.
