Sharon Sisson thanked council and staff for efforts to improve communications between the council and the public. Gwyn Davis urged the council to consider installing sidewalks along Kolb Road; Vice Chairman James R. Byrd Jr. said he added the concern to the next SUATS committee meeting agenda for consideration. Councilmember Carlton B. Washington announced that Hillcrest High School's track would be available for public use on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 6:00 to 8:00 a.m. County staff member Joe Perry noted that the Gamecock Gazette publishes county news on the county website under the "Sumter Now" section and is available via email request.
None of the public comments resulted in immediate council action during the meeting; the SUATS referral represents the action taken on the Kolb Road sidewalk request.
