Long County commissioners table Comprehensive Plan, approve Regional Development Authority memorandum

Vice Chairman Gerald Blocker called the meeting to order at 11:45 AM with Commissioners John Reddish, James Craft and Jeremy Hall present; Chairman Robert Parker was absent. After an invocation by Pastor Lott and the Pledge of Allegiance, the board approved the meeting agenda, the July 2024 minutes and authorization to pay county bills on separate unanimous motions.
County Attorney James Smith gave the first reading of proposed Service Fees; the item was presented as a first reading rather than final adoption. On the Comprehensive Plan, Commissioner John Reddish moved to table adoption of the Long County and City of Ludowici Comprehensive Plan; Commissioner Jeremy Hall seconded and the motion passed unanimously, postponing final action on the plan.
Commissioners debated a memorandum of understanding with the Regional Development Authority. A motion by Commissioner Reddish to table the MOU failed; the transcript does not list individual roll‑call votes for the failed motion. A subsequent motion by Commissioner Jeremy Hall to approve the MOU was seconded by Commissioner Reddish and passed unanimously.
