Union County reviews stoplight options and posts new bridge weight limits after inspection

The board discussed temporary traffic-signal options to manage detours: Traffic Solutions Inc. quoted about $15,000 per site per month (for two sites), while Dakota Traffic’s estimate was roughly $10,000 per site per month; total temporary costs were described as approximately $20,000–$30,000 per month for three to nine months depending on project duration. Buum said permanent signal installation from Nystrom Electric is estimated at $120,000 per intersection, with the county responsible for ongoing electric bills.
On bridges, Buum reviewed inspection findings: bridge 64-042-050 remains posted at a 12-ton single-axle and 20-ton combination limit; bridge 64-120-062 has been posted to a 6-ton limit after Ulteig found a crushed cap; bridge 64-020-141 will be posted 12-ton single-axle and 20-ton combination. Hollaway Construction was compiling budget estimates for needed work.
