The Madison County Board approved the appointment of Heather Mueller‑Jones to County Board District 27 and the County Clerk administered the oath of office at the July 15 telephonic meeting. The appointment followed notice of the July 3 passing of former District 27 board member Clint Jones.
Following the swearing‑in, the board approved a slate of committee changes to reflect the vacancy: Mueller‑Jones was added to County Institutions, Grants, Health Department and Public Safety committees; other committee chair and member adjustments were made to replace the late Clint Jones and reassign leadership where needed.
Chairman Kurt Prenzler read a proclamation recognizing Roland Harris of Highland for receiving a “Best of Illinois” Lifetime Achievement Award from the Illinois State Historical Society, celebrating Harris’s longtime local history work and the Highland Home Museum. The board then approved previous meeting minutes and received correspondence and departmental reports.
The appointment was approved by motion and voice vote; the clerk updated the roll call to include Ms. Mueller‑Jones.
