Washington County approves Riverlight Transit FY25 admin grant application

The Washington County Board of Commissioners approved submission of the FY25 Riverlight Transit administrative grant application after holding the required public hearing on Sept. 5.
Kim Blevins, Riverlight Transit supervisor with the county Department of Social Services, said DSS would not apply for a capital grant for FY25 because no vehicles in the fleet had reached the 100,000‑mile threshold as of June 30, 2023. Blevins told the board the forms and the FY25 administrative grant materials were included in the agenda packet and asked for the board's approval to submit the application.
Commissioner Tracey A. Johnson moved to close the public hearing; Commissioner Ann C. Keyes seconded. After the hearing, Commissioner Keyes moved to approve the administrative grant application and the Community Public Transportation Program resolution for FY25; Commissioner Carol V. Phelps seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Chair Julius Walker asked how many buses the system operates; Blevins replied there are eight buses in the Riverlight Transit fleet.
The approval authorizes staff to submit the grant application required for FY25 administrative funding; DSS indicated it will not seek a capital grant this cycle.
