Commissioners approve multiple land‑use files; county reports grant wins and project schedules

At its Nov. 2 session the Board of Lincoln County Commissioners approved a set of planning items and heard engineering updates on several grant‑funded transportation projects.

Planning approvals: Commissioner Harmon moved to approve File 209 MS 22 (Valley Springs II) with findings and conditions and to authorize the chairman to sign the development agreement. Commissioner Hansen moved to approve File 427 SS 22 (Simpson Landing) with findings and a resolution of approval, and to approve File 813 AP 22 (vacation of remainder of the Berton Townsite) with findings, conditions and resolutions for specified blocks and lots. All motions were recorded as adopted.

Engineering and grant updates: County Engineer Amy Butler reported that Lincoln County was awarded a CMAQ FY23 grant of $187,500 (80% federal, 20% local). She also summarized High Risk Rural Roads FY23 grant applications (pavement markings, guardrail on County Road 300 Fossil Butte and solar signs/delineators) noting the guardrail application for Fossil Butte was not awarded; she briefed the board on a Hams Fork Bridge BROS grant (90.49% federal, 9.51% local) with a project completion date set for Oct. 31, 2023; and on a Strawberry Creek realignment project (50% state, 50% local) with preliminary design 80% complete and scheduled for 2024.

What this means: the planning approvals move several subdivisions and a townsite vacation forward under the county’s stated findings and conditions; the engineering updates indicate federal and state funding commitments for transportation work. The board also reviewed and approved payroll and vendor claims as part of the meeting record.
