Gladwin readies Winter Wonderland weekend; city staff report meters, audit and volunteer needs

City Administrator Kimberly Hines and city staff used the Jan. 5 meeting to remind residents about the Winter Wonderland grand opening this weekend and to report several operational updates.
Hines said the Winter Wonderland event will feature a ribbon cutting and recognize sponsors; activities scheduled (weather permitting) include sledding, skating and cross-country skiing with free public admission and sales of items such as hats and mittens. Park Manager Sabrina Battjes asked for volunteers to help with the event and provided contact information.
DPW Supervisor Jeff Graham reported the department finished banners and lighting work for the event and that staff changed 10 water meters this week with two more planned; he also noted cross-training efforts to cover staff absences. Treasurer Angela Bigham said the audit presentation date is still being scheduled and confirmed the BS&A migration to the cloud is complete; she warned that next month begins the budget season.
Mayor Sarah Kile and council members made brief remarks congratulating winners of the holiday decorating contest and encouraging public attendance at the Winter Wonderland event.
