Kittitas County finance staff flagged deferred maintenance needs across primary county buildings and described a plan to produce a public-facing facilities cost analysis. The review took place during a May 12, 2025 special meeting attended by Chairman Laura Osiadacz, Vice-Chairman Cory Wright and Commissioner Brett Wachsmith.
Zack DeHaven, Budget & Finance Director, reviewed countywide facilities planning and condition ratings, describing deferred maintenance, service-level commitments, and the Risk Pool's ranking of buildings by cost and condition. DeHaven said the review includes a variety of primary county buildings and associated deferred maintenance and service-level considerations; the transcript does not record specific dollar amounts or schedules for the repairs.
Following that presentation, Auditor Bryan Elliott asked whether the board wanted additional analyses beyond what staff had supplied. Commissioners requested a public-facing document that staff and members of the public could easily digest. Elliott said he would work with Facilities Director Patti Stacey to develop a presentation that lays out short-, medium- and long-term courses of action with cost analysis and return it to a future meeting.
No formal decisions were made on May 12; the next steps recorded are for staff to prepare the public-facing materials and for Elliott and Facilities staff to present cost options at a future board meeting.
