Nelson County Commission votes to solicit bids for tractors; approves routine motions

The Nelson County Commission on Aug. 1 voted unanimously to solicit bids for two 230-horsepower MFWD tractors equipped with 8-foot front-mount snowblowers and a 6-inch extension (creating a 9-foot cut). Commissioner Aaron Mork moved the purchase motion, Commissioner Cameron Swenson seconded it, and a roll-call vote recorded all members voting yes.
Bids are due in the Auditors Office by 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 15, per the motion passed by the commission. The procurement request was described in the meeting minutes with the equipment specifications included in the motion.
The commission also carried several routine administrative motions on unanimous votes: approval of the July 18, 2023 minutes (moved by Commissioner Steve Forde, seconded by Commissioner Aaron Mork), approval of the amended agenda (moved by Commissioner Cameron Swenson, seconded by Commissioner Steve Forde) and a motion to pay all bills to be listed at the second meeting of the month (moved by Commissioner Cameron Swenson, seconded by Commissioner Steve Forde). Each of those motions passed on roll-call votes with all members voting yes.
Additional meeting notes: Jayme Tenneson, Nelson County States Attorney, joined by Zoom and recommended the commission attend the North Dakota Association of Counties conference in Bismarck following her attendance at the National Association of Counties conference. Sheriff Kurt Schwind joined to provide an update on department business; the transcript records that an update was given but does not include substantive details.
