The board also approved a revision to Policy 6.19, the Wireless Communication Device Policy, to comply with Alabama Act 2025-386 (the FOCUS Act). Both recommendations were moved by Board Member Walter Curry, seconded by Vice President Stephanie Floyd, and recorded as approved.
In finance action tied to technology, the board authorized the superintendent to award the FCC Cybersecurity Pilot Program bids — Bid #31-25 for a Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) system and Bid #30-25 for an Incident Response (IR) retainer — on Sept. 15, 2025 to meet procurement timelines for completing the FCC 471 application. The board recorded the motion to award on Sept. 15 to allow compliance with the 470 process and the 471 filing schedule.
Meeting minutes show the actions were approved to ensure the district meets federal procurement and application timelines; the board did not discuss vendor names or contract amounts in the public minutes.
