Davis County Library Board hears update on Bountiful (South) branch construction and temporary 'Twig' site

Library staff gave a construction update on the South (Bountiful) branch and the temporary location known as the 'Twig' at the Feb. 12 Davis County Library Board meeting.
Deputy director Matt Goff said staff have been relocating books from Bountiful to other branches and to the Twig using a box truck. He said the Twig will hold roughly 25,000 volumes; staff expect a soft opening on March 2 and a grand opening March 25 to align with community events. Information-services staff are installing Wi‑Fi and public computers at the Twig, and Facilities crews have been repairing walls, painting, and constructing a checkout desk.
Lynnette Mills reported that an ADA-accessible door will be installed the week following the meeting and that asbestos remediation at the Bountiful site is scheduled to begin Feb. 23, with the construction fence going up Feb. 19. Mills said the project currently is tracking on budget and that the only scope reduction so far has been removal of a skylight above a staircase.
Board members asked about patron notice for temporary transit changes and whether UTA had been contacted about moving a transit stop; Joshua Johnson said staff were considering options for notifying the public and exploring a possible additional Twig location in the North Salt Lake area. The board did not take a formal vote on construction matters during the meeting; staff will continue project management and follow-up work.
