Stanley council unanimously approves appointment, surplus declaration and local water plan

The Stanley Town Council on Nov. 3 approved several routine measures by unanimous votes.
Agenda and minutes: The council approved an amended agenda after a requested addition from Deputy Town Manager Steven Denton, and also voted to adopt the minutes of the Oct. 6 regular meeting; both motions passed 5-0.
Appointment: Council Member Chad Jones moved to appoint Corey Kelly to the Planning Board and Board of Adjustments; the motion was seconded by Council Member Marsha Miskelly and approved unanimously.
Surplus property: Town Manager Heath Jenkins explained state law requires formal declaration of surplus property for certain vehicles. The council adopted a resolution declaring three patrol sedans (one 2013 and two 2016 Ford Interceptor sedans) as surplus and authorized their disposition; the motion passed 5-0.
Local water supply plan: Jenkins said North Carolina General Statute 143-355 requires units of local government that provide public water service to file an annual local water supply plan. Public Works Director Daniel Hendrix prepared the report; the council adopted the resolution to comply with the statute, vote 5-0.
Adjournment: The meeting concluded after a unanimous motion to adjourn.
