Planning Board approves minutes, postpones Porter Street advisory review; staff updates rezoning work

The Cambridge Planning Board unanimously approved a motion to accept certified transcripts as the meeting minutes for several 2025 meetings and postponed an advisory consultation on 16–18 Porter Street to Jan. 13, 2026.
Chair Mary Flynn asked for questions on the Community Development Department update before moving to minutes approval. Jeff Roberts, the city’s director of zoning and development, had outlined the agenda and noted the advisory review for 16–18 Porter Street (PBAC 1) was postponed at the applicant’s request and rescheduled to 01/13/2026. A motion to accept transcripts as meeting minutes was made and seconded; a roll-call vote recorded six yes votes and the motion passed.
Roberts also updated the board on ongoing City Council deliberations about the Mass. Ave and Cambridge Street corridor rezoning petitions. He said the council had considered amendments—some addressing open-space accessibility and others strengthening active-use provisions—and had passed both petitions to a second reading, where they may be voted on for adoption on or after Dec. 22. Roberts added that staff had referred a zoning petition to align institutional-use provisions with state law and that the Planning Board will hold a hearing on those institutional-use regulations in the future.
With those items complete the chair moved on; there were no additional staff comments and the meeting adjourned.
