Fulton County proclaims March 2026 Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

FULTON COUNTY — The Fulton County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 24 approved and executed a proclamation designating March 2026 as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month.
Commissioner Hervey P. Hann moved to approve the proclamation, which the board adopted unanimously. The proclamation's text commends citizens to observe the month and includes language recognizing that "Fulton County becomes a better place when people with and without disabilities come together to form strong, diverse communities."
County officials met with local MD/IDD/EI providers and advocates for the signing. Present were representatives from Occupational Services Inc., CRI, Full Circle Residence, Lupey Behavioral Services, Fulton County Human Services, The Arc of Franklin-Fulton Counties, and other local stakeholders; a group photo was taken with the commissioners.
Human Services Director Julie Dovey and partner organizations said the observance is intended to raise awareness and highlight local services; the minutes record the proclamation and the commissioners' formal approval. Staff were directed to distribute the proclamation and coordinate awareness activities in March.
