Trustees debate campus-visit purpose and push to see bond project progress

Trustee Landrum said she values visits to stay informed about campus projects funded by the bond and suggested putting an RSVP deadline in place so campuses do not over-prepare for low-attendance visits. "I personally really enjoy campus visits... I like finding out what's going on with our campuses," she said.
Trustee Weir said goal-oriented visits had limited the board’s exposure to middle and high school programs and urged lighter expectations for principals, saying she felt bad about the volume of printed materials prepared for trustees. Trustee Zarate said at least two trustees should attend visits (three preferred) and expressed interest in seeing the Round Rock Opportunity Center.
Superintendent Dr. Ansaiz said administration will coordinate visits based on the board’s direction — for example, scheduling bond-focused tours one month and middle- or high-school visits another — and will share a proposed spring schedule.
Trustees discussed the value of seeing special programs (CTE, libraries and special-education programming) and suggested practical changes — limiting single-trustee visits, staggering times and making the visits purposeful for administrators and principals.
No formal action was taken; administration will draft and share a proposed schedule and process for spring campus visits.
