LEPC says CRAG award received; emergency management office orders response equipment and submits FY26 application

Portage County’s emergency coordinator told the Local Emergency Planning Committee the office received a CRAG (Computer HazMat Response Equipment Grant) award and has placed orders for the items on its equipment wish list.

"The CRAG award was received, and our office has ordered everything that we had, kind of had on the wish list," the coordinator said, adding that some computers and additional supplies remain outstanding.

The coordinator also said the FY26 NOVA Act application was submitted last week and that the FY25 grant period ends Dec. 31; the office plans to submit its final report for FY25 in January 2026. Members said they expect the ordered equipment will be distributed to fire departments to support spill and HazMat response once the remaining items arrive.

Committee members had no substantive questions about the HMEP grant, which the coordinator said had nothing new to report.

No dollar amounts were read into the record in the transcript; members discussed procurement and coordination but did not vote on grant expenditures at the meeting.
