Orange County supervisors approve two workers' compensation settlements

The Orange County Board of Supervisors reported unanimous approval of two proposed workers' compensation settlements during a closed-session report, counsel said.
Counsel told the board that the supervisors approved a proposed $185,000 settlement in Lisa Feddes v. Orange County. Counsel said Feddes is a retired deputy sheriff who alleged industrial injuries to her knees and heart. "The settlement approved today is subject to the final approval of others," counsel said, and when finalized copies of the agreement will be made available through the office of CEO risk management.
Counsel also reported that the board unanimously approved a proposed $280,000 settlement in Joseph Bull v. Orange County. Counsel described Bull as a retired deputy sheriff sergeant who alleged cumulative trauma to his heart and spine among other industrial injuries, and repeated that the settlement is subject to final approval and will be made available through CEO risk management.
Counsel framed both actions as closed-session items discussed pursuant to government code sections 54956.9 and 54957.6 and told the board that, "beyond that, the board took no other reportable action closed session today." The meeting then returned to open session and the chair adjourned the meeting.
