Sheriff: two electric vehicles, WEX charging cards and a new litter deputy funded by county

County Administrator Jonathan Gaddy told the Commission on Jan. 8, 2026, that the Sheriff’s Office had acquired two electric vehicles and presented an agreement with WEX Bank to allow card usage at electric-vehicle charging stations. The Commission authorized the chairman to execute the agreement by unanimous voice vote.
The meeting also recorded an agreement with Republic Services to rent a dumpster container for OneWorld Animal Control, approved by motion and voice vote.
Sheriff Hurst reported that the office assigned a deputy to address community complaints that regular patrols could not address and that, following discussions with Chairman Terry Howell and with funds provided by the Commission, the office hired an additional deputy dedicated to litter issues. Sheriff Hurst said the dedicated litter deputy helped identify individuals responsible for littering and pursue legal action when appropriate.
Local resident Gary Hutchinson used public comment to thank the Commission for its attention to human trafficking awareness; Jakob Williamson of the Chamber announced a Legislative Session event that evening. The meeting adjourned at 10:23 a.m.
