Board member Whitney announced during the Dec. 5 meeting of the Planning and Zoning Board that he will resign effective tomorrow, citing frequent recusals resulting from his commercial real-estate appraisal business.
"I'm recusing myself from votes way too often now, primarily due to my commercial real estate appraisal business," Whitney said, explaining his decision to step down after five years on the board. He thanked staff members and fellow board members by name and said he appreciated the opportunity to serve, citing projects he watched through the board during his tenure.
Chair Seville acknowledged the announcement and the meeting adjourned shortly afterward. The board did not take immediate action to fill the vacancy during the meeting; standard municipal processes for appointment or replacement will apply.
