On Feb. 10, 2026, the Charlevoix County Transportation Authority discussed a proposal to change operating hours for the Ironton Ferry. Transportation Coordinator Joe Kroll recommended setting opening-day through Memorial Day Weekend hours to 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day hours to 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., and post-Labor Day hours back to 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Kroll said he would handle all signage to reflect the change.
