After the hearing closed, Councilman Ricky C. Travers moved to adopt the bill, Councilman William V. Nichols seconded, and the measure passed by roll call: Pfeffer—aye; Detmer—aye; Nichols—aye; Travers—aye; Kramer—absent.
The ordinance amends Chapter 82 (Electrical Standards) of the Dorchester County Code to abolish the board and remove the registration requirement. The change will take effect according to the dates and notice provisions in the adopted legislation.
Supporters said the change streamlines county regulation for electrical service providers; opponents did not register a formal objection at the hearing. The council did not attach further conditions to the enactment.
The council did not specify transitional rules for any pending registration applications during the session’s public record. The county will publish implementation details and effective dates in the adopted ordinance notice.
