Cornish council approves gWorks utility-billing software, unanimously approves bills

Mayor Matt Leak and the Cornish Town Council voted March 4 to purchase gWorks utility-billing software and approved the town’s March bills.
The council met at Cornish Town Hall and reviewed gWorks’ one-, two- and three-year contract options. Mayor Matt Leak told the council a three-year contract would lock in the price for the town. Councilmember Christopher Buxton moved to purchase gWorks, Councilmember Colton Creech seconded, and the motion passed unanimously (Buxton, Creech, Brad Fisher, John Forsgren and Mayor Leak voting aye).
Before the gWorks vote, the council approved the Feb. 18, 2026 minutes (motion by Councilmember Brad Fisher, seconded by Councilmember Christopher Buxton) and approved the March bills totaling $11,910.99 (motion by Councilmember Brad Fisher, seconded by Councilmember John Forsgren); both measures passed unanimously.
During the meeting Mayor Leak and town clerk Madi Smith also discussed several operational items: two returned water bills that require follow-up, management of a town-owned laptop and the warranty status of a recently purchased Surface device (warranty reported to run through October 2026). Mayor Leak said he would follow up in person on at least one returned bill and that he had texted another resident about an unpaid bill.
The council set its next regular meeting for March 18, 2026 and adjourned at 8:40 p.m.
