Franklin County Commission changes two voting precinct locations after public hearing

Franklin County commissioners unanimously approved two resolutions May 15 that relocate local voting places in an effort to improve voter access.
Commissioner Jason Miller moved and Commissioner David Hester seconded a resolution to move the College Avenue voting precinct (Precinct 2‑2) from the A.W. Todd Centre to the College Avenue First Baptist Church at 521 College Avenue North. The resolution directs that copies be forwarded to the Franklin County Probate Judge, the Board of Registrars and appropriate state agencies.
Separately, following a May 9 public hearing at the A.W. Todd Centre in which no opposition was recorded, the commission unanimously approved a resolution relocating the Courthouse Annex (Precinct 2‑3) and the Electric Warehouse (Precinct 2‑5) polling centers to the A.W. Todd Centre. The resolutions cite the county’s responsibility under state law (Code of Alabama §17‑6‑4(a)) to designate polling places and state the changes are intended to promote greater voter participation.
Both resolutions were entered into the record for May 15.
