Cheatham commissioners approve two zoning changes after no public comment

Cheatham County commissioners approved two separate rezoning requests without public opposition at their April 15 meeting in Ashland City.
After a short public hearing in which no residents spoke for or against either item, the body voted 10‑0 (with two commissioners absent) to rezone a 2.74‑acre portion of Map 51J (Group A, Parcels 26 and 27 on Maplewood Road) from Agriculture to R1 at the request of James and Rita Edgin. The motion was made by Calton Blacker and seconded by David Anderson (Resolution 4).
The board also approved a request from Joshua Long to rezone Map 24, Parcel 8.06 (5870 Highway 41‑A) from R1 to E1. Chris Gilmore moved and Calton Blacker seconded that motion; the roll‑call vote was 10 Yes, 0 No, 2 Absent (Resolution 5).
Neither rezoning request was identified as being in a Special Flood Hazard Area in the meeting materials. With those votes the county clerk and planning staff will update zoning maps and property records as appropriate.

The approvals allow the applicants to pursue development under the new zoning classifications; the minutes do not record subsequent permit applications or project timetables.
