The Cloud County Board of Commissioners on Nov. 3 unanimously approved an Agreement for Engineering Services with Kirkham Michael & Associates to design OS Bridge 542 on Wagon Road, authorizing a $68,000 design contract.
John Markel of Kirkham Michael presented the agreement and told the Board that, aside from engineering fees, right-of-way purchases and utility relocation costs, the State of Kansas is expected to cover 100% of the project costs. The Board voted in favor on a motion by Commissioner Ron Copple, seconded by Commissioner Dannie Kearn.
The decision clears the way for design work on the bridge; the county will still need to address right-of-way acquisition and any utility work as those costs are not included in the state coverage described to the Board. The agreement authorizes the firm to proceed with engineering work for OS Bridge 542, with next steps to be coordinated between county staff and Kirkham Michael.
