The Cloud County Board of Commissioners accepted the immediate resignation of Emergency Management Coordinator Kent Otott during its Aug. 18 regular meeting.
Commissioner Ron Copple moved and Commissioner Dannie Kearn seconded a 15-minute executive session to discuss a personnel matter involving non-elected personnel; County Attorney Rob Walsh and Emergency Management Director Kent Otott were included. The board resumed open session at 9:56 a.m., at which time the resignation of Otott was recorded as effective immediately.
Separately, the board earlier held a 15-minute attorney-client executive session that resumed at 9:24 a.m.; County Attorney Rob Walsh and Clerk Shella Thoman were included in that session, which the board described in the minutes as attorney-client privileged business.
The minutes do not record discussion of successor arrangements or a timeline for filling the Emergency Management Coordinator position. The clerk’s office will retain the personnel actions recorded in the minutes and any formal resignation paperwork.
