Town Manager Rick Sawyer formally presented two department‑head appointments during the Bedford Town Council meeting on Jan. 14. Sawyer recommended Brian Diphosos — the town’s engineer who served as acting public works director — to be the town’s director of public works, citing 28 years of engineering experience and recent oversight of the town roads program and bridge projects. "I'm convinced that Brian is the best person for the job given his extensive knowledge of Bedford," Sawyer said.
Councilor Bill Carter moved to confirm Diphosos, and the council voted 7–0 to approve the appointment effective Jan. 15, 2026. Diphosos thanked the council and the town manager and said he was “humbled” and eager to continue serving Bedford.
Sawyer then presented Jeremy Morell as the town’s new information technology manager, saying Morell has more than 20 years in the IT industry and experience with the software and hardware the town uses. Carter moved to confirm Morell; the council again voted 7–0. Morell told the council he was “humbled” and eager to serve.
Both confirmations were procedural votes recorded as unanimous. The appointments will take effect immediately per Sawyer’s recommendation.
