Boca Raton council names deputy mayor, selects committee and agency representatives

At its April 1 organizational meeting, the Boca Raton City Council completed routine organizational business, appointing Councilmember Yvette Drucker as deputy mayor and confirming representatives to boards and committees for the coming term.

Councilmember Nacklis moved to appoint Councilmember Yvette Drucker as deputy mayor; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Councilmember Wigder nominated Councilmember Nacklis for CRA chair and Councilmember Andy Thompson for CRA vice chair; the council approved those nominations by voice vote. The council also approved a nomination to chair the auditor selection committee and named the city’s representative to the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee.

On intergovernmental assignments, the council selected two voting representatives and three alternates to the Transportation Planning Agency (TPA); one councilmember said she sits on the TPA executive board and agreed to continue serving. The council appointed a voting delegate and an alternate to the Palm Beach County League of Cities and followed historical practice in assigning the most recently elected member to the Interlocal Plan Amendment Review Committee, with an alternate named as well.

Most motions were approved by unanimous voice vote with no roll-call tallies recorded in the transcript. No ordinances, resolutions or budget decisions were taken during the organizational portion of the meeting; the actions reflected routine assignments and internal leadership selections for the council’s upcoming term.
