The Oneida County Board on March 17 approved a 6% market adjustment to the Computer Technician positions in the Information Technology Systems (ITS) Department, placing the positions at Grade H plus 6% on the Non-Exempt Wage Schedule effective Jan. 31, 2026.
The Executive Committee presented the recommendation after the Human Resources Director and ITS Director analyzed turnover and comparable private- and public-sector wages and concluded the county’s compensation was lower than comparable positions. The committee reviewed the data and recommended the adjustment, with the additional funds to come from the 2026 ITS budget.
The adjustment was included on the consent agenda and adopted by roll call (18 Aye; 3 Absent).
Why it matters: County officials cited difficulty recruiting and retaining competent information-technology staff as the reason for the adjustment. Department leaders said the raise aims to reduce turnover and operational strain in ITS.
What’s next: Budget officers and ITS staff will implement the payroll adjustment and reflect the change in the department’s 2026 budget tracking.
