Committee advances notification, hearing rules for crypto mining and small quarry operations

An amended bill would create a notification and local review process in counties without zoning for digital asset mining operations and smaller extraction projects, require specified studies (traffic, noise, stormwater) and set setback and acreage thresholds for "nuisance quarries." Proponents said the measure targets operators creating heat, dust and noise nuisances.
