Residents press council on parks, turnout and proposed housing at public comment

Dan Bone told the council the town does not need more parks and urged officials to focus on road capacity and traffic impacts, saying: “You don't need them. You don't have to have a theme here and a theme there.” He criticized what he described as limited resident outreach and low meeting attendance.
Dave Worswick suggested adding a tribute to service members at the start of each meeting and urged the council to find ways to increase public turnout ahead of primary elections. He also called attention to a proposed housing development of “100 plus housing” at 800 East and State Road 267 and asked that residents attend relevant advisory meetings.
Another public commenter raised a question about economic development incentives tied to a LabCorp project and asked how many IEDC dollars were used to attract LabCorp; town staff answered in the meeting that the IEDC was not involved in that project.
Council members and staff responded to the comments and noted several factors that may limit attendance, including work and family schedules. The council president said the town will continue outreach efforts, including monthly communications and ad hoc posts to explain infrastructure and development impacts.
