Tamarac votes: drainage project, building‑code changes and limited online sales for museum uses cleared

- Westwood Boulevard East drainage project (Resolution TR14350 / Bid No. 25‑24B): The commission awarded construction to Alexander Johnson Project Management and Development, Inc., for a base contract of $967,318.08 and contingency of $96,731.81, for a total project budget of $1,064,049.89. The motion passed unanimously 5–0.

- Ordinance on unsafe structures (first reading, item 7A): The commission approved an amendment to Chapter 5 adding a court order status and milestone inspection process required under section 553.899 of state statute. Building official Tony Palacios presented the item and it passed first reading 5–0.

- Limited online sales as incidental use (ordinance 8A, second reading): The commission adopted an amendment to the zoning code adding "limited online sales" as an incidental use in certain mixed‑use zoning districts to accommodate museum uses that may sell a small share of displayed items. Staff said the ordinance is targeted and does not affect home‑based e‑commerce or ordinary storefront online sales; the commission recorded a 5–0 vote. Staff noted a cap in supporting materials that would limit sales of vehicles to about 5% annually to rotate museum stock.

What’s next: The drainage project will move to contract execution and project mobilization following standard city procurement procedures; the procurement code amendment (discussed separately) will return with requested limiting language, and staff will monitor implementation of the museum online‑sales provision to ensure it is applied only to appropriate uses.
