The Raeford City Council on Nov. 4 approved two rezoning requests to permit manufactured homes and tabled a separate townhome rezoning pending further materials.
The council voted unanimously to rezone the parcel at 646 N. Vass Rd (approximately 0.5 acre, PIN# 694350901022) from R-6 (Residential 6,000) to RMH (Residential Manufactured Home) so the applicants, Felton and Molicia Ferguson, could replace an existing manufactured home. Code Administrator Felecia Locklear told the council that the Planning Board met on Oct. 28 and recommended approval.
The council also unanimously approved Dennis Bethea’s request to rezone approximately 0.76 acre at 948 Reed Dr (PIN# 694251601158) from R-6 to RMH to permit placement of a manufactured home; Locklear again reported a Planning Board recommendation in favor.
A separate rezoning application from J & K General Contractor seeking RMF-12 zoning for a townhome development was discussed but not decided. Locklear said the Planning Board recommended that the applicant amend the application and submit a conceptual site plan to the Technical Review Committee. The council tabled the matter; Locklear noted the earliest council consideration would be in February.
All rezoning approvals recorded in the minutes were described as unanimously carried; no public opposition was recorded in the meeting minutes for these items.
