Lake Stevens School Board gets construction planning update, lists Elementary #8 and major modernizations

Robb Stanton provided an overview of planned and upcoming projects including the 2025 Capital Construction Campaign, Elementary #8, modernizations at Glenwood, Skyline and Lake Stevens Middle School, a new Secondary Innovative Learning Center, a Central Kitchen, gym improvements at Mt. Pilchuck and Hillcrest, enhanced secure receptions and special education spaces, upgrades to field lighting, and improvements to portables and perimeter safety.
Executive Director of Educational Technology and Assessment Mike Weatherbie described collaboration with architects, project managers and engineers to support "flexible, collaborative learning environments" featuring adaptable furniture, multiple writable surfaces, interactive panels and multiple connection points and power sources. He also stressed inclusive audio and voice enhancement to support diverse learning pathways.
Executive Director of Communications Jayme Taylor said the district is increasing stakeholder engagement — hosting a Farmer's Market table, launching a dedicated school construction website, conducting group meetings and surveys, and using QR codes to share information. Assistant Superintendent Teresa Main provided an update on a recent bond sale and Chief Academic Officer Anderson summarized feedback gathered from students, staff and caregivers.
The board took the project overviews for information; several items later reappeared on the consent agenda as contract awards for construction-related services.
