FULTON COUNTY — Fulton County commissioners approved and executed a proclamation declaring March 2026 as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month during their Feb. 24 meeting.
Commissioner Hervey P. Hann moved to approve the proclamation, which the minutes quote as proclaiming "March 2026 as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month and do commend this observance to all of our citizens and recognize that Fulton County becomes a better place when people with and without disabilities come together to form strong, diverse communities, and knowing we are all One World, many Abilities!" The motion carried with all commissioners voting in favor.
Local developmental-disability service providers and advocates attended the signing, including representatives from Occupational Services Inc., CRI, Full Circle Residence, Lupey Behavioral Services, Fulton County Human Services, The Arc of Franklin/Fulton Counties, and consumers of local services. Chief Clerk Stacey M. Shives noted a group photograph was taken with the commissioners.
