Committee awards $1.6M MCC replacement contract for Appleton wastewater plant, staff say CIP covers phases

The Appleton finance committee on Dec. 8 voted 4-0 to award phase 1 of the motor control center (MCC) replacement at the Appleton Wastewater Treatment Plant to Vanner Electric Company for $1,605,450, with a 10% contingency that yields a project cap of $1,765,995.
Alder Hartzheim asked whether the city had adequate budget capacity for the work and whether other project costs could erode the allocation. "There's $3,800,000 in the CIP for 2025," Deputy Director Gruffert said, adding the city expects to carry a balance into 2026 for phase 2. "We're comfortable that there'll be enough money to do both phases," Gruffert told the committee.
The item was moved, seconded and approved unanimously. The contract award authorizes staff to proceed with phase 1 under the contracted terms; staff did not record further scope changes in the meeting.
