At its Jan. 28 meeting the Boulder City Historic Preservation Commission reviewed a status report on its goals and priorities, upcoming training opportunities, and potential agenda items for future meetings, including the condition of properties in the historic district and whether to expand district boundaries.
Krista, city staff, said the packet includes a monthly status compilation of projects and permits within the historic district and highlighted continuing education opportunities for commissioners, including a national preservation forum in Minneapolis in July and a virtual commission assistance and mentoring program offered by the state. Staff said the state SHPO is offering grants to help commissioners attend the national forum.
Commissioners asked for additional information and follow-up. One commissioner asked staff to provide more detail about a pump house located down the hill near the lake that is architecturally related to the filtration system but often vandalized. Commissioners also discussed whether to pursue expanding the historic district to include hotels on Avenue G and noted that Broadband and Associates is working on a report that will be brought back to the commission when finalized.
No formal votes were taken on property nominations or district expansion; staff agreed to provide more information at the next meeting.
