Chairman Michael Weiss and Commissioner Mike Hall voted to accept one sealed bid for repair to the District/County courtroom ceiling from Marty Bohlen Drywall for $18,560, and authorized the County Clerk to issue the payments listed in the claims docket. Both commissioners voted aye on the motion; Commissioner Bryan Mellage was recorded absent.
The board also accepted a fuel bid from Sapp Brothers for April 2026 — $4.119 for #2 clear diesel and $3.42 for regular with ethanol — by motion of Commissioner Mike Hall, seconded by Chairman Weiss. The motion carried by roll-call votes of the two members present.
On human-services funding, the board approved the Region V Systems county match required under Statute 71-808 for $14,123 for FY2026–2027 (motion by Hall; second by Weiss) and then voted to disapprove Region V Systems’ additional requested amount of $2,198 for the same fiscal year (motion by Weiss; second by Hall). Officials also announced a Federal Fund Purchase Program deposit of $450,876.61 and confirmed that Grant #27-CB-0521 (FY2027 Community-Based Juvenile Services Aid) was approved. The board set a deadline of April 6 to accept applications for the public defender position and said applicants will be considered at the April 8 meeting.
