The board also accepted fuel bids for April from Sapp Brothers — #2 clear diesel at $4.119 per gallon and regular with ethanol at $3.42 — on a motion by Hall that Weiss seconded. Roll-call votes on both measures were recorded with Commissioners Hall and Weiss voting aye; Commissioner Bryan Mellage was absent.
The board approved the Region V Systems statutory county match of $14,123.00 for FY2026–2027 under Statute 71-808 on a motion by Hall and rejected an additional requested amount of $2,198.00 on a separate motion by Weiss. The body also approved a six‑month extension for Pinpoint Right of Way #2024‑17.
On land‑use matters the board adopted Resolution 2026‑17 approving a subdivision for Nicholas J. Snodgrass (Sec. 6 T6N R14E) and Resolution 2026‑18 approving a subdivision for the Linda J. Kohrs Living Trust, located west of Johnson. Both resolutions passed on motions recorded as Hall and Weiss voting aye.
Buildings and grounds maintenance contracts were approved: Aslan Mechanical’s quote for annual maintenance on the courthouse steam boiler ($1,570.00) and a quote to repair temperature controls on three radiators ($1,720.00) were accepted. The board also approved a quote from Less Mess LLC to remove four trees and stumps from the courthouse yard for $5,185.00.
Highway business included noting status of Bridge #C006423450 (Box Culvert Project C‑64(252)), tabling a driveway agreement for Merrill L. Fisher and approving a driveway agreement for Darren Oestmann at 632 Avenue in Johnson. The meeting minutes list these items and the board’s votes where taken.
The board authorized payment of detailed claims and payroll across multiple funds, with items listed in the minutes including vendor and payroll entries (for example, BC/BS $38,377.74 and a $100,000.00 transfer to the Nemaha County Treasurer account). The claims list was authorized earlier in the meeting by motion; roll-call votes were recorded Hall and Weiss aye.
The board announced it is accepting applications for the public defender position with a deadline of April 6; the appointment or action will appear on the April 8 meeting agenda. With no further business the board adjourned at 10:32 a.m.
