Two members of the sheriff’s office addressed the Mitchell County Board March 17 to announce they are willing to serve as interim sheriff until the elected sheriff takes office. Deputy Justin Treece introduced his law‑enforcement background and told the board, "I want to lead by example," while Greg Albeck described 27 years of local policing experience and said he does not intend to run for the fall election but would serve as interim if appointed.
