Committee unanimously advances bill to have comptroller assess subsurface passenger transit

The committee voted 24–0 to advance HB 15-15, which adds subsurface passenger transit companies to the Comptroller's Office of State Assessed Properties (OSAP) assessed entities, allowing the comptroller to assess a tunneling company's tunnel with funds earmarked to Metro Nashville.

Speaker pro tem Marsh told the committee that House Bill 15-15, as amended, "adds subsurface passenger transit companies to the list of OSAP assessed entities, ensuring uniform taxation across similarly situated companies operating in Tennessee." Marsh said the bill is intended to let the comptroller assess examples such as a tunneling company's tunnel in Nashville, with the funds going to Metro Nashville.
