Staff reported that contractors completed major concrete pours and seismic footings as part of the building retrofit and that interior work continues. Staff said the contractor plans to flip parking-lot access in May — restricting entry to sunrise while the north end of the lot is finished — a change timed ahead of the baseball season.
On programming, staff described the In-N-Out Cover to Cover children's reading program (for ages 4–12, March 7–April 18), upcoming CPR and first-aid training for staff, and recognition for the children's librarian, Nancy Valdivia, who will receive an award at the Palm Springs Women's Club event on March 26. Staff also outlined the process and thresholds for naming-right approvals: gifts of $100,000 and above require city-council approval; gifts of $25,000 to $100,000 go to the city manager; smaller gifts are administered at the department level.
Staff previewed the library's participation in the Palm Springs Book Festival community day (March 29) with screenings, story times and presenter panels. Trustees accepted the staff reports and thanked staff and community partners for programming and volunteer support.
The board adjourned after selecting nominating-committee volunteers and confirming the next meeting date.
