Canopy Project seeks permits this summer; staff and developer set biweekly coordination

Planning staff told the Climate Action Committee that a multi‑disciplinary meeting with the Canopy Project team covered entitlement, plan review and construction readiness and produced a step‑by‑step submittal roadmap.

John (planning staff) said the Canopy team hopes to submit site development plans by the end of the month and has a target of submitting building permits for review in September, with a final map scheduled for city council consideration in September or October. "They're kind of looking at, the end of this month to submit their, site development, plans to the city," John said. Staff and the developer plan to meet every two weeks to ensure a complete submittal package and reduce avoidable delays.

Staff highlighted outstanding items that must be completed before permits are approved, including a tentative map, building permit construction drawings, and required inclusionary housing (below‑market rate) legal agreements.

Next steps: developer to submit required documents; staff to provide a detailed implementation checklist and continue biweekly coordination meetings to track submittal milestones and target dates for implementation.
